What is
therapy?
Therapy is a series of healing conversations
that restore connection.
Connection to yourself and others—past, present, and future.
As a marriage and family therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families systemically.
That means I have a lens that takes into account the whole picture... where you’ve come from, how you were raised, your formative experiences, and the social and societal factors that have shaped the development of your personality. We evolve our habits and sense of self through relational experiences.
On the other hand, conditioning doesn’t have the final say on our destiny. By cultivating insight and awareness of our patterns, generating and receiving self-compassion, and experiencing emotional release, we can heal, grow, and transform.
Through listening and talking, I will hold space for you to explore and work to improve or come to terms with difficult issues, emotions, or relationships.
I work intuitively and draw from my academic and therapeutic training, as well as my own life experiences as a mother of three, with thirty years of meditation and spiritual explorations. I often incorporate mindfulness, visualization, and creativity into my work.
If you have experienced trauma, I may work with you using a therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming, or EMDR. I incorporate EMDR, where appropriate, into work that seeks to unlock and safely heal material and memories from the past that have a hold on the present day nervous system and beliefs about self.
“The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness, and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival.”
— Aristotle
